Country Guitar Scales
Here's the fingering patterns for the scales I described in the video. Keep in mind that I really don't "think" around playing scales most of the time while I'm playing a solo. Most of the time I'm thinking more around chord shapes then the scales, although the chord shapes are based around a scale pattern. When I'm playing a rock style song, I tend to play more around scale patterns as opposed to chord shapes.
These scale patterns below are just one way of playing the particular scale. There are many ways to play any given scale up and down the neck, which would would be too indepth to include on this page.
Hello and good morning. I love all of your videos. Great instructions and fantastic licks and you explain everything not just the licks but why. I have a ton of videos that are pickers burning up the guitar and never really teaching anything. Keep the videos coming. Glad I am the first to order this one. I will put a post on TDPRI let everyone know my thoughts. I will buy the next video when you have one out. God bless . Harry
Beyond the great instruction on the DVD, Ken seems like a real class act. He answers emails and responds to questions real quick.I keep going back to the DVD and learning something new and applying it to my own playing. I think that, in terms of Country music, one of the most valuable (and elusive) aspects of learning is understanding how certain licks & scales fit over what chords, and beyond that is knowing the licks that make for good transitions between the chordsThis DVD has really helped me with that in many ways.
Just received Ken Carlson's new video FOLSOM PRISON BLUES SOLOS. Great video with some really nice licks. Some great solos and he explains everything so even I can understand. Not just how but why. Has a good website also with a lot of free teaching videos. Chentech46
