Waylon jennings / Rodney Crowell – Length: 56 Min – “I Ain’t Living Long Like This” is a well-known outlaw country tune that Rodney Crowell penned back in 1976. He came up with it after he’d been locked up for not wanting to keep his dog, named Banjo, on a leash. Waylon Jennings made it a huge hit in 1980. This Ain’t Livin’ Long Like This guitar lesson is a cross between Rodney’s live version with Stuart Smith playing the guitar and another version I heard Vince Gill play on a live show at n Eric Clapton’s Cross Roads festival. In the Ain’t Livin’ Long Like This guitar lesson I teach Stuart’s intro licks, which he plays throughout the song and Vince’s rhythm pattern for the core parts of the song. I improvized Ralph Mooney’s pedal steel for the 1st solo plus the original guitar solos as played on the recording. I also teach you how to play Vince Gill’s incredible guitar solo and song ending, plus another improvized pedal steel lead guitar part I came up with.
