The style of Chicken Pickin’ is a lot more than just one or two different techniques. It involves many different techniques that The way you hold and grip your pick while playing will affect the way the string sounds when it’s plucked. “Stubbing” the end of the pick, in other words, holding it so that just the very tip is exposed past your thumb and finger, produces a great effect. By gripping it this way, you get a kind of “pinched harmonic” sound that works great for chicken picking.
